Glad to see you...

If the gaming industry is an automobile, and the game designers are the drivers, then that makes us, the players, backseat drivers, and we'll be damned if we're gonna let the industry keep on heading the way it's going (good or bad) without letting them know what we think. So buckle up, feel free to complain about there being no air in the back, and bring your most critical and analytical mind to the open air discussion of the current age, Backseat Gamers!

Discuss as needed.  I personally think it's a bit of a shame that Borderlands didn't make the cut in any way shape or form.  It had some steep competition, for sure, but still... c'mon!  It was also nice to see Halo only get awards it truly deserves.  (Marty O'Donnel is pretty awesome.)

  1. Glad Flower got on there. It is truly a unique game and deserves the award. I agree with all the rest as well, except for maybe Best Fighting Game and Best 360 game. Does having a quick turn button in L4D2 make it better than its PC counterpart? I don't know. I just think that the platform specific awards should be limited to the exclusives.

It's also great that Wolverine is getting some recognition. It was a great game as far as movie tie-ins go, and is pretty solid overall.

  2. What was Wolverine up against? Harry Potter? Up? As far as movie games go, Wolverine was a shoe-in.

  3. I personally disagree with the award Halo did win. My vote went for Uncharted 2. That game has a phenomenal theme with one of the most expansive and immersive sound tracks I've ever heard.

But sticking with the Uncharted 2... if that hadn't won GOTY, I would have lost all hope in gaming as a whole. It is a game you buy an entire new system just to have the privilege of experiencing.

  5. Yeah good list for sure. ODST did have a pretty awesome soundtrack. Can't think of any other game that really stuck me this year as far as music goes. I haven't played Uncharted 2, but from what I hear it's all the rage.

  6. So who wants to loan me their PS3 so I can play Uncharted 2, haha.

Good list. Shadow Complex was a great download. And Borderlands should have won something. A new and original theme where most games stick to familiar genres.
