Glad to see you...

If the gaming industry is an automobile, and the game designers are the drivers, then that makes us, the players, backseat drivers, and we'll be damned if we're gonna let the industry keep on heading the way it's going (good or bad) without letting them know what we think. So buckle up, feel free to complain about there being no air in the back, and bring your most critical and analytical mind to the open air discussion of the current age, Backseat Gamers!

Flame Bait

Today a coworker told me that there's a special running for preorders on Assassins Creed 2. I traded in Batman and Modern Warfare and got $46 towards it. I was going to wait till Christmas to get it, but those jerks at GameStop put in an extra level/hideaway for preordering it and me being the "have to have the whole experience" whore that I am went for it. Amateria, being the good friend that he is, verbally raped me for not putting it towards MW2 and gave me the whole "what about your friends" guilt trip. So despite all my "I'm not getting MW2" rabble....I switched over my preorder. I fully expect brjahu to make me his gimp for this.

  1. 3N3MY don't be so hard on yourself for switching the pre-orders, I do it all the time. Have you seen the CoD:MW2 launch trailer? It could have changed your mind instead of getting verbally raped by Amateria. It's going to be a tough choice for me if I wanna get L4D 2 or go straight with AC 2. I might just pass all together just because of MW 2.

  2. Don't patronize him. He deserved every raping he got.

  4. JR: I know we've talked about that very point several times and if it weren't for some of the best friends I have all getting it....I would pass and stand proudly next to you. Epic Fail for me )c:

  5. Hey guys cool idea on the blog. Either way I am a big MW/COD fan. If the game is even or not I get a kick out of destroying my buddies all the time, that's where it started on Halo 2 and that's where it continues for me. Nothing shows love like fragging your best friend. That being said there are issues with the game and I won't beat that dead horse, but mindless destruction solidifies a friendship, what else do we as men really have?

  6. COS KRAMER: Who isn't, man? This is exciting. Working in videogame retail, this is a really cool time - MW2 is the biggest launch most companies have every had. Don't worry about beating a dead horse here - it's something we're quite well versed in.

My big thing I hope changes in COD is the balancing of scoring. I'm all for competitive play, and if someone's skills are madder than my own, then they should receive a better score. I have to call shenanigans though with KD spreads like 32-4, and 2-28. I don't care how good you are, we've all had games that have ended in scores both to those. Are those accurate numbers to how you play all the time? Sheesh... Why reward the good players with tools that get them more kills? (i.e. airstrikes, helis)

  7. I have decided that my verbal rantings and abuse of 3N3MY's gaming mindsets deserves its own thread that I will write soon. My availability to post has been very limited so more to come.

  8. Here we go...just don't be overly mean. At least I'm getting the game to play with my friends. Not your of course...my friends.

  9. Thanks to a phone call, I realized that I completely misread this post... 3N3MY +1

That doesn't score him high enough to prevent my inevitable post.

  10. Couldn't agree with Amateria, more. And I know 3N3MY feels the same way. I remember picking up Battlefield 2, my first online FPS multiplayer experience... and I SUCKED! I got several Purple Hearts (which you receive when you have a 1/4 K/D ratio. Yeah, I was that bad. But I kept at it and got good. And there are some wide K/D spreads in that game. But people earn it by skill. CoD4 and WaW encouraged the players doing well and made it easier for them to get even MORE kills.

But specifically, my problems lie more with Activision's CEO and his PR issues. Not to mention dedicated servers. If the game is good and there are several of my friends playing it, I may reconsider. And I know the single-player will be amazing which is what I feel I'm missing out on.

My gf just bought me Dragon Age: Origins as an early b-day present so I'll be enjoying that for a while. :D

  12. JR: It's only because of your love for PC gaming that I've ever even considered getting a rig. I'm def not going to, but please understand that I at least thought about it.

Also, heres what you will surely find an interesting read about your buddy Bobby Kotick. I read this a few months back and I have to admit it changed my perception of him some.

Also, it's not Activision that made IW take out dedicated servers (correct me if I'm wrong on that one). I mean the guys destroys new gaming IPs, but he does have stock holders to make money for....I guess I see both sides of the story.
