Glad to see you...

What will you be buying before Christmas?

Lets face it. The months leading up to Christmas are taxing on any consumer, but especially so on gamers. There are a plethora of Triple A games coming out before Christmas and I want to know what you WILL be buying. Not what you're on the fence about.

The only game I'm absolutely purchasing before Christmas is Rage. I've got a huge hard on for id and this is their first proper game in seven years. People that play their games know that nobody does the execution of shooting mechanics better than id. Every game of theirs I've ever played or that Raven has ported has such an extremely specific feel for the guns that no other game maker has nailed.

All hail John Carmack!

  1. For me, the ones I am absolutely buying without question are Gears of War 3, Uncharted 3, and Halo: CE Anniversary (as long as they keep the price at $40). Like you said, there's so much other amazing stuff on the horizon, but I just think those 3 will keep me plenty busy. If I WERE to buy another, I think my first choice would be Arkham City, just to have huge, single player experience.

  3. I feel like a bit of a voyeur here. I'm always watching and reading backseat posts and never commenting. I hope I'm not intruding.
My picks will definitely be BF3 and MW3. I'm more excited for BF3 than I've been for any game release. MW3, not because I really want it, but because everyone else will get it and playing with friends is best regardless of the game being played. Which brings me to a decision I'm struggling with, which system to get them on...

  4. Welcome!

I'll definitely be rocking out in gears if war 3. I'll also probably be picking up MW3 and Halo:CE anniversary as well, an order which has yet to be determined.

On the horizon after that, I'll be looking to play Batman and mass effect 3, but that's on the backburner. Zelda is a definite possibility as well.

  5. So many good games!!!! I really appreciate the fact that we all play different games... or maybe it's just me that plays different games. :P

I pre-ordered Deus Ex, Battlefield 3, Skyrim, and Diablo 3 last week and those are my four solid purchases. Mass Effect 3, Arkham City, and Rage are secondary titles that I definitely want to play but may be purchases at a later date. I know I WILL play those three at some point.

MW3 may be a purchase later on, maybe used... I've seen four very similar shooters from Activision, each one year after the other so I'm done with CoDs for now. I think I'll be able to avoid MW3 because all my PC buddies won't be getting it.

  8. Yeah, seriously, post more, comment more. That was the point of this, not just to have 4 people commenting on stuff a couple times a week.

  9. First comment for me as well: voyeur, intruding, etc...

Being as I am broke as a joke, I was not planning on purchasing any new games before Christmas - although I enjoyed Arkham so much, I was hoping to scrounge something together for the sequel.

But reading 3N3MY's post about Rage made me curious enough to go check it out. WOW - looks like a VERY good game. Kind of a mix between Fallout 3 and Borderlands (and I've now officially mentioned the three games that I've played through to completion in the past year). I think that Rage has quickly become a must buy for me. What to sell, what to sell...

  10. Gears of War 3. I call Anya as my character...

    Resident Evil 4.

Pretty certain I'll end up with MW3 and Rage as well.

  11. Yeah, everybody is welcome to comment. Please do so. If it wasn't for this blog, I wouldn't have been sucked into to some of the franchises I have been.

And seriously... people need to stop talking about all the games coming out cuz I'm going to be broke too! You all keep hyping up all the secondary games on my list and they'll quickly get nudged up to primary purchases!

  12. I've been debating this very fact for a long time as well. With about 10 games on my Amazon wish list it is a tough call. I will pick up BF3 for PS3, if anyone wants to play. Loved the squad play of BF:BC 2, hoping to re-live that experience in a larger way. I am ubergeeked like beg2differ. As a huge fan of the Bat-man Arkham City is a must. I might get Assassin's Creed: Revelations too, undecided if I want to drop the cash right now. Ugh too much! Just started ME2 for the first time and am having fun, that might bump up ME3 on the list too.

  13. There have now been several people who have mentioned Mass Effect 3 in this thread. I hate to be the bearer of bad news to anyone who didn't know, but the release date for that one has been pushed back to March 6, 2012. :-(
