Glad to see you...

If the gaming industry is an automobile, and the game designers are the drivers, then that makes us, the players, backseat drivers, and we'll be damned if we're gonna let the industry keep on heading the way it's going (good or bad) without letting them know what we think. So buckle up, feel free to complain about there being no air in the back, and bring your most critical and analytical mind to the open air discussion of the current age, Backseat Gamers!

It's the Summer of Battlefield...

But in September, it'll be the Fall of Reach.

Seriously though, this was "leaked" earlier in the week, and now it's official.  I'm personally stoked.  Some of the new features look like they could be a little bit gimmicky, but at the end of the day, looks like a refreshing breath to a consistent, but undeniably tired Halo experience.

  1. If you'd like I'll send you my OXM with "8 PAGES OF NONSTOP HALO REACH CONTENT SET TO AMAZE EVEN THE AMISH WITH AWESOMENESS!!!!"

I'll watch the video soon, but my goodness I'm tired of HALLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....like you said it's tired, but we'll see in September I guess.

  3. Red Faction: Guerilla anyone? jet packs, speed boosts, cloaking...dont get me wrong i still love a bit of Halo and looking forward to this but those special abilities are straight out of Red Faction Multiplayer fingers crossed they fit in better than that game.

  4. Just watched the video. I'm not all that impressed. Add in jetpacks/loadouts all you want and you still have shields, hammers, plasma swords, elites (with unfair headshot) oh wait...the "roll" looks amazing (bert)! I guess we'll see what happens May 3rd.

  5. My positivity was misinterpretted. I'm not necessarily impressed by the additions, but I am excited to see what this does for the gameplay. I still stand that despite it's flaws, Bungie gets balancing in a way that most shooter developers can only hope to, and I'm excited to see what they change in their design as they take a significantly different approach from what we usually see coming from them.

  6. I wouldn't really consider myself to be blown away by this. Obviously, they've made significant improvements to the graphics. New guns look interesting. Is that the Halo 1 pistol I see taking out a guy from across the map (awesome)?

The jet packs and the rolls really worry me. What's to stop a really good sniper from grabbing that jet pack, taking to the sky and wiping out the other team in 4 shots? I sure hope you can't stay up indefinitely, and being able to blow them up (like the Flame Boomers tanks on their backs in GoW2) would be nice.

Bungie can add all the bells and whistles they want, but if I still have to shoot a guy with 50 bullets to kill him, it's lame.

I'm hoping for a really epic campaign.
