Glad to see you...

If the gaming industry is an automobile, and the game designers are the drivers, then that makes us, the players, backseat drivers, and we'll be damned if we're gonna let the industry keep on heading the way it's going (good or bad) without letting them know what we think. So buckle up, feel free to complain about there being no air in the back, and bring your most critical and analytical mind to the open air discussion of the current age, Backseat Gamers!

I want this....don't judge.

I've been keeping my eye on the PSMove since it launched and now I want it. I know that goes against most everything a lot of us believe on this blog, but I remember back to when the Nintendo Revolution (Wii) was announced.

They promised a new way to play shooters without a controller. You could aim more like a real gun. It was going to revolutionize gaming. I was very excited.

Once the system launched and I played Call of Duty 3 on it, I realized it was a lie, but Nintendo did pave the way for a motion controller that could actually work. On a system that could power HD games that I would actually want to play.

At Sony's E3 Conference last night they brought up this. I'm excited about it and I'm preordering that bitch.

If I bought the camera, wand, nav controller, sharpshooter and the game it would be over 210 bucks. This bundle is a marketing push by Sony to get guys like me that have been on the fence to come and play.

It's working.

  1. It's hard to believe that you're even considering the Move. I'm pretty certain that you have been the harshest critic of the Wii on here. Move is "HD Wii" and nothing more. Maybe it's best to just try it out though so you can experience firsthand that playing an FPS with motion controls is just as silly on the PS3 as it is on the Wii.

  2. I've absolutely been the harshest critique of the Wii and while the Wii and Move are identical in concept it's the execution that makes all the difference in my mind.

I wanted the Wii to succeed initially. It wasn't until I saw the lag present in the controller and the total lack of HD graphics or compelling, well implemented FPS gameplay.

I love the idea of the controller, but Sony has just done it significantly better. They've put in the time to make it work well in very high profile games and that's exciting to me.

I've talked to a cousin that's used it and was really impressed with how spot on it was and I've read enough reviews and watched enough videos to come to the conclusion that I'd probably really have fun playing with it.

I'm well aware it won't change the game fundamentally, but it could be a lot of fun to play shooters I like with it as well as other Move supported games.

I did put in a crap ton of time with the Menacer on the Sega and even that had less lag than the Wii.

  3. I don't believe for a second that you truly wanted the Wii to succeed, based solely on your criticisms of Nintendo post-gamecube.

  4. You're wrong, friend. I remember reading about the Nintendo Revolution on IGN in my bedroom at home.

I even told my mom about how it was going to change things. Then more details trickled out and I saw the graphics and then I saw Gear of War footage and made my choice.

Remember when I literally had to talk you out of buying a Wii over a 360? You were nuts to even consider it and you still owe me for that.
